{"id":220,"date":"2017-11-02T13:40:19","date_gmt":"2017-11-02T17:40:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.cliniquedroitsdevant.org\/?page_id=220"},"modified":"2020-02-09T16:09:05","modified_gmt":"2020-02-09T21:09:05","slug":"history-2","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.cliniquedroitsdevant.org\/index.php\/en\/history-2\/","title":{"rendered":"HISTORY"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In 2003, the <em>Table de concertation jeunesse itin\u00e9rance du centre-ville <\/em>and the <em>R\u00e9seau d\u2019aide aux personnes seules itin\u00e9rantes de Montr\u00e9al <\/em>(RAPSIM) created the <em>Op\u00e9ration droits devant, <\/em>gathering around 40 community workers from different organizations working on homelessness in Montreal, in order to compile information on the judiciarization of people living homelessness, to represent them and to hold media and awareness raising activities. Steps were also taken at the <em>Commission des droits de la personne<\/em> (Human rights Commision) to demonstrate that homeless people experience social profiling experienced.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In parallel to these activities, the organizations asked for the development of a support and individual court accompaniment service for homeless or vulnerable people facing tickets. Thus, the Clinique Droits Devant was created within the RAPSIM on November 20th, 2006. Very quickly, the Clinique\u2019s services were met with enthusiasm, helping on average 150 to 200 new people every year. Given this success, the RAPSIM decided to encourage the Clinique in gaining its autonomy after seven years of existence to allow it to continue developing.
